Ichra murder case: Mother allegedly slaughtered the kids to remarry

LAHORE: Police on Friday said initial findings in the Ichhra case indicate the mother allegedly killed her three children as part of a plan to separate from her husband and remarry another man.

Investigators, citing call detail record data, said the accused, identified as Rida, had developed contact with a man from Jhang and was receiving money from him through a mobile application. Police officials said the relationship and financial exchanges are being examined as part of the case record.

According to police sources, the woman had expressed intent to divorce her husband and marry the individual, with investigators stating the children were considered an obstacle in that plan based on current findings. Teams have been sent to Jhang to locate and arrest the man, while the father, Ramzan, has been released after initial questioning.

Officials said the mother is currently being treated as the primary accused, adding that further arrests will be made if evidence indicates involvement of other individuals. The investigation remains ongoing, with digital and financial records forming part of the inquiry.

A day earlier, senior Lahore police officials had confirmed during a press briefing that the mother was allegedly involved in the killings. The case emerged after the bodies of three children were recovered from a house in Ichhra with throat injuries.

The victims were identified as five-year-old Mominah Batool, four-year-old Momin Raza, and 18-month-old Umm-e-Habiba, according to police.
