Three children found dead with slit throats in Lahore

LAHORE: Three young siblings were found dead inside their home in Ichhra on Thursday, with police saying they were killed using a sharp-edged weapon.

The victims, identified as five-year-old Momina Batool, four-year-old Momin Raza and one-and-a-half-year-old Umme Habiba, were found with their throats slit, according to initial police reports.

Authorities said the children’s parents had locked the house and gone to a nearby medical store to purchase medicines. On returning, they discovered the children dead and alerted emergency services.

Police and rescue teams reached the scene and shifted the bodies to a hospital for post-mortem examination.

Law enforcement officials said the children’s paternal uncle has been taken into custody on suspicion, while investigations are ongoing.

Senior Superintendent of Police Toqeer Naeem said evidence was being collected from the site and multiple aspects of the case were being examined.

Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem took notice of the incident and sought a report from the Capital City Police Officer Lahore, directing that those involved be arrested using all available resources.
