Aleema Khan says not seeking party role, backs Imran Khan leadership

RAWALPINDI: Aleema Khan on Tuesday said she is not seeking any formal position in Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and is only supporting her brother, maintaining that Imran Khan remains the party’s leader.

Speaking to media at the Gorakhpur Factory checkpoint, she said Imran Khan “was, is, and will always remain the chairman” and noted that he had spent more than three decades building the party.

She said that while she may qualify for a formal role within the party, her focus is to stand by him during what she described as a critical period.

She added that after his removal from government, Imran Khan launched what she called a resistance movement, which she said had increased public awareness about democratic rights and political accountability.
