The Punjab School Education Department has issued new instructions requiring schools across the province to ensure that no student is left unattended on campus at closing time.
According to an official notification, school heads have been directed to check all areas, including classrooms, washrooms, laboratories, libraries and playgrounds, before closing to confirm that no student remains inside the premises.
The department has also instructed schools to assign a teacher or staff member on a daily rotation to supervise student departure and ensure that all children have safely left for their homes.
The designated staff member will not be allowed to leave until it is verified that all students have departed, while heads of institutions will be held responsible for compliance with the directive.
Authorities have ordered immediate implementation in both public and private schools and said any negligence will be taken seriously. Schools have also been directed to submit compliance reports within 24 hours.
