Kidnapped man’s body recovered from flat in Karachi, cousin among suspects
Police in Karachi say they recovered the body of Rehan Ahmed from a flat in Chapal Garden days after his reported abduction. Officials said a property dispute among business partners appeared to be the motive.

KARACHI: Police on Sunday said they had recovered the body of a man who was allegedly abducted eight days ago from a flat in Chapal Garden on Abul Hasan Isphahani Road, and that the victim’s cousin was among the suspects in the killing.
As per details, the victim was identified as Rehan Ahmed. Police said a case related to his abduction had been registered on April 13 at Joharabad police station on the complaint of his son, Ruhan Khan.
Investigators reviewed CCTV footage during the inquiry and found that Rehan had left in a car with a suspect on the evening of April 11. Police later identified the suspect as Syed Faisal Karim.
According to police, Karim was taken into custody on suspicion and, during interrogation, allegedly admitted involvement in the crime. Investigators said he told police that he had taken Rehan with him as part of a pre-planned scheme.
Police said Karim further disclosed that the victim was later handed over to an accomplice identified as Ziaullah alias Najeeb alias Haider, where three to four other suspects were also present.
Investigators said Rehan was allegedly tortured and kept confined inside the flat. Police added that Faisal told investigators he was later dropped near Sohrab Goth Bridge and then returned to his home in New Karachi.
Acting on information provided by the suspect, police carried out a raid at a flat in Chapal Garden, where they recovered the body. The body was shifted to a hospital for medico-legal formalities, while evidence was collected from the scene.
Arrests and motive under investigation
District Central SSP Dr Imran Khan said the victim and the suspects were business partners and that a property dispute appeared to be the motive behind the murder.
He said three suspects, including the main accused, had been arrested, while efforts were continuing to apprehend two to three more alleged accomplices.
Police said the deceased was involved in the business of selling laboratory equipment.
Initial findings of the investigation suggest that the flat from where the body was recovered was allegedly being used by a suspect identified as Mujeebur Rehman, who remains at large.
Further investigation is under way.
