Sindh govt lambasts opposition for 'targeting' PPP
The Sindh government has accused opposition parties, especially the PML-F, of targeting the PPP as political activity intensifies in the province. At a Larkana press conference, spokesperson Buland Khan Junejo also highlighted the party’s governance record and welfare initiatives.

LARKANA: The Sindh government has launched a blistering critique of its political opponents, specifically the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F), accusing them of a sustained campaign against the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leadership.
In a press conference at the Larkana Press Club on Saturday, Sindh government spokesman Buland Khan Junejo dismissed the PML-F’s recent political activity across the province. He alleged that opposition groups, whom he referred to as a "troika," consistently form alliances before elections only to face public rejection. Junejo asserted that the PPP would break this alliance and hand the opposition an even more significant defeat than in previous polls.
The spokesman contrasted the PPP’s performance with that of its rivals, claiming that opposition parties abandoned the public during the 2022 floods while PPP leaders remained on the ground. He further accused the PML-F of historical betrayals, including supporting dictators and backing the controversial Kalabagh dam project—a project he noted Benazir Bhutto famously resisted at Kamoon Shaheed. Junejo also alleged that the Functional League was complicit in "conspiracies" to construct canals in Sindh during the PTI government's tenure.
Defending the current administration’s record, Junejo highlighted significant development milestones under the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari. These include the acquisition of $2 billion in international flood relief and the completion of one million homes under what he termed the world’s largest housing project.
The spokesman also listed several healthcare and infrastructure achievements, citing the establishment of the Sindh Institute of Cardio-Vascular Diseases (SICVD) and the Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), alongside an ongoing 600-bed hospital project in Larkana. He pointed to the expansion of the Peoples Bus Service to Sukkur and Shikarpur, and a $50 billion wheat subsidy for farmers, as evidence of the government's commitment to public relief.
Concluding his remarks, Junejo traced the party's legacy back to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s nuclear program and Benazir Bhutto’s missile technology and women's empowerment initiatives, stating that the PPP’s bond with the people remains "unshaken."
