A sessions court in Lahore has set April 22 for the framing of charges in a high-profile gang rape case involving YouTuber Rajab Butt and several co-accused, moving the matter into its next legal stage.
Additional Sessions Judge Yasir Arfat distributed copies of the challan to the accused and fixed the next hearing for formal indictment proceedings. The case has attracted widespread public attention because of Rajab Butt’s online profile.
The court has summoned Rajab Butt along with co-accused Jahangir, Jawad Ali, and Abdur Rehman, and all are required to appear at the next hearing.
During the proceedings, the petitioner also raised objections to the investigation, alleging that Nawab Town police registered the case on incorrect facts. A request was also made for interim bail to be confirmed as the case moves forward.
According to the complainant, she was allegedly lured to a house and sexually assaulted. These claims remain part of the case currently under judicial review.
In a separate controversy, a video involving Rajab Butt’s son, Kivan Sultan, recently circulated on social media and sparked widespread debate online. Rajab Butt’s wife, Eman Fatima, publicly criticized the clip and the way it was shared.
In a statement posted on Instagram, Eman Fatima said the video had been presented misleadingly online. She claimed it was not a spontaneous emotional moment, but something planned, recorded, and later leaked.
She further alleged that people close to the family were involved in creating the content and said the child appeared in it without proper consent. She described the incident as deeply disturbing and irresponsible.
Eman Fatima also said private family moments should not be turned into material for online attention, adding that such content can be harmful and deceptive.
The court is expected to resume proceedings on April 22, when charge framing is set to take place and the case is likely to move further through the legal process.
