Pakistan denounces Israeli strikes in Lebanon at UN

UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan strongly condemned Israeli military strikes in Lebanon during a meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation at the United Nations, calling for an immediate ceasefire and unimpeded humanitarian access to affected areas.

Speaking at the ambassadorial-level session at UN Headquarters, Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative Usman Jadoon warned that the humanitarian crisis in Lebanon was rapidly worsening. He highlighted that ongoing Israeli bombardment—particularly in southern regions and densely populated areas—was inflicting severe civilian casualties and causing widespread destruction of critical infrastructure.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support for Lebanon’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, Jadoon described Israel’s continued military operations as a clear violation of international law. “Large-scale destruction of civilian infrastructure and violations of humanitarian law must stop immediately,” he stressed.

Pakistan also condemned attacks targeting peacekeepers serving under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, warning that such incidents undermine international peacekeeping efforts and heighten regional instability.

Emphasizing the urgency of the situation, Pakistan welcomed measures taken by the Lebanese government to restore stability and strengthen state authority, as well as ongoing de-escalation initiatives, including a proposed four-point peace plan.

Islamabad urged the international community to intensify diplomatic engagement, ensure the swift delivery of humanitarian assistance, and take concrete steps to prevent further escalation.

Reiterating its stance, Pakistan underscored that lasting peace in the region can only be achieved through sustained political dialogue and strict adherence to international law.
