New York – Pakistan has strongly condemned Israeli military actions against Lebanon during a recent meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), calling for an immediate halt to what it described as widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure and clear violations of international law.
Speaking at the UNSC session, Pakistan’s representative voiced deep concern over the escalating hostilities and the impact on Lebanese civilians. The official emphasized that the ongoing attacks have resulted in significant damage to non-military targets, including homes and essential infrastructure, which has exacerbated the humanitarian situation in the region.
The Pakistani envoy underscored that such actions are in direct contravention of established international legal norms and must cease without delay. The representative stated, “Large-scale destruction of civilian infrastructure and blatant violations of international law must cease immediately.”
Pakistan reiterated its longstanding position in support of Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, urging all parties to exercise restraint and adhere to international humanitarian law. The country also called on the international community to take urgent steps to prevent further escalation and to protect civilians from the ongoing violence.
The UNSC meeting was convened in response to the recent surge in cross-border hostilities between Israel and Lebanon, which has raised concerns about broader regional instability. Pakistan’s intervention at the session reflects its continued engagement with issues affecting peace and security in the Middle East.
Officials from Pakistan further highlighted the importance of upholding the principles of the United Nations Charter and ensuring accountability for violations of international law. The country’s statement at the UNSC aligns with its consistent advocacy for peaceful resolution of conflicts and the protection of civilian lives in conflict zones.
