JI starts free book campaign in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar
Jamaat-e-Islami has launched a free book campaign in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar, where students from primary to matriculation level can collect books until April 25. Monem Zafar said education was essential for national progress and highlighted the Bano Qabil Program.

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Ameer Monem Zafar on Monday inaugurated a camp in Gulistan-e-Jauhar as part of the party’s Parho Parhao Campaign, set up near the newly developed Fatima Surayya Bajia Park in Block 1.
According to the announcement made at the event, the campaign will continue until April 25. During this period, residents of Gulistan-e-Jauhar Blocks 1 to 15 will be able to receive free books for students studying from primary to matriculation level.
Addressing local residents, Zafar said Jamaat-e-Islami considers education the basis of a nation’s development. He said a strong and self-reliant society cannot be created without ensuring quality education for children.
The JI leader said the party was working to bring about an educational change in Karachi through efforts including the Parho Parhao Campaign and the Bano Qabil Program. He said the Bano Qabil initiative was providing free modern IT training to thousands of young people.
He also referred to civic issues in the city and criticised delays in development schemes, including the Red Line project. Zafar said such delays had created difficulties for residents.
He said the core problem was not a shortage of resources, but mismanagement, corruption and incompetence. His remarks linked the slow pace of urban development with the hardships being faced by people in Karachi.
Speaking about the Bano Qabil Program in more detail, Zafar said more than 450,000 students had registered under the initiative. He added that over 50,000 young people had completed IT courses through the programme.
According to him, those who completed the training were now able to support their families and improve their means of livelihood. He presented the programme as part of Jamaat-e-Islami’s broader effort to expand educational and skills-based opportunities for youth in the city.
Campaign to continue until April 25
The newly launched book distribution drive is aimed at facilitating students in Gulistan-e-Jauhar by making educational material available free of cost. The camp will serve residents across Blocks 1 through 15 during the campaign period.
The launch of the camp combined Jamaat-e-Islami’s education-focused messaging with criticism of delayed public works in Karachi, as party leaders highlighted both access to learning and urban governance issues during the event.
