PTI urges US not to become hostage to Israel’s agenda, again

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has urged the United States to avoid becoming influenced by what it described as Israel’s strategic objectives, while terming ongoing regional diplomatic developments a positive sign for peace efforts.

Speaking to media, PTI Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram said the party viewed the arrival of US Vice President J.D. Vance and Iranian representatives for talks as an encouraging development, reflecting a shared recognition of the economic and humanitarian costs of prolonged conflict. He said negotiations were a continuous process that must be sustained to achieve lasting peace.

He added that a ceasefire in Lebanon was also essential for progress, alleging that Israel has historically undermined peace efforts in the region. He urged the United States to play a role in preventing further escalation in Lebanon.

Reaffirming the party’s stance, he said PTI’s approach aligns with Imran Khan’s vision of prioritising dialogue over confrontation and that the party supports ongoing peace talks without preconditions.

He also noted that Pakistan’s emergence as a mediator in the US-Iran dialogue was a positive development and suggested that Islamabad could also host future rounds of negotiations.

PTI leader Asad Qaiser separately called for peace to be given a chance both internationally and domestically, stressing that political stability, rule of law, and improved relations with Afghanistan were essential for addressing unemployment and security challenges.

In a statement, PTI and allied opposition groups also expressed hope that the ongoing diplomatic efforts in Islamabad would lead to constructive outcomes that promote regional stability and broader economic and political cooperation.
