PTI urges government to call emergency OIC meeting over Iran conflict

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has voiced serious concern regarding the escalating security situation in the region and has called on the government to urgently convene an emergency session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The party emphasized the need for a collective response to prevent the region and the Muslim world from being drawn into another externally imposed and potentially devastating conflict.

In a statement released on Saturday, PTI Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram stressed the importance of immediate diplomatic efforts. He stated that such action is essential to safeguard the Muslim world from being entangled in a new war. Akram warned that the rapidly increasing tensions threaten to destabilise the entire Middle East, with serious implications for global peace, economic stability, and the security of the Ummah.

Sheikh Waqas Akram specifically condemned what he described as "unprovoked American and Israeli attacks on Iran," characterizing these actions as a clear breach of international law and an infringement on the sovereignty of a neighboring Muslim country. He cautioned that such "reckless military actions risk igniting a wider regional conflict with catastrophic consequences."

The PTI's statement comes amid heightened concerns over the potential for further escalation in the Middle East, with fears that ongoing hostilities could have far-reaching effects beyond the immediate region. The party has urged the government to take a proactive stance by rallying the OIC member states to address the crisis and work towards de-escalation.

PTI's call for an emergency OIC meeting reflects growing anxiety within Pakistan about the impact of the conflict on the broader Muslim world and underscores the party's position that urgent diplomatic intervention is necessary to avert a larger crisis.
