SARGODHA: The district administration has imposed fines totalling Rs200,000 on several marriage halls for violating the government’s one-dish policy, after surprise inspections revealed repeated breaches of the regulation.
According to officials, the assistant commissioner conducted inspections across multiple wedding venues where it was found that more than one dish was being served in violation of official instructions.
Authorities said the violators were penalised on the spot and warned that strict enforcement of the policy would continue without exception. The assistant commissioner reiterated that compliance with government regulations is mandatory and that further action would be taken against any establishment found in breach.
However, marriage hall owners have raised concerns over what they describe as selective enforcement. Speaking anonymously, one owner alleged that while strict action is taken against ordinary citizens, influential individuals are often not subjected to the same restrictions.
He further claimed that at certain wedding events attended by district administration officials, the one-dish rule was not visibly enforced, suggesting inconsistency in its implementation.
