ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad administration has decided to strictly enforce the government’s one-dish policy at marriage halls and marquees in the capital, with legal action to be taken against those found violating the rules.
The directions were issued from the office of Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon, according to the orders cited in the report.
Under the instructions, a case will be registered against violators. The deputy commissioner also directed police to ensure registration of a case and the arrest of the owner in the event of a violation.
The orders further state that if a venue is found violating the policy for a second time, the owners of marquees and halls will be arrested and the premises will be sealed.
In addition to arrest, the administration has said heavy fines will be imposed if events are held inside buildings that have already been sealed.
Deputy Commissioner Memon also instructed all assistant commissioners to carry out daily monitoring of marquees and halls and proceed against violators without any discrimination.
The directions also require officials to arrest those responsible for violations and shift them to police stations.
Monitoring and enforcement measures
The administration’s latest move signals a stricter enforcement mechanism for wedding venues operating in Islamabad. The deputy commissioner’s office has placed responsibility on both the district administration and police to ensure implementation of the policy.
According to the orders, assistant commissioners have been told to keep all marquees and halls under daily observation so that any breach of the one-dish policy can be identified and acted upon promptly.
The instructions emphasise that action should be taken uniformly, without discrimination, against any venue found in breach of the rules.
The administration has also made clear that violations inside sealed premises will invite additional penalties in the form of heavy fines, alongside other legal action already outlined in the orders.
The deputy commissioner directed police to support the enforcement campaign by ensuring that cases are registered and owners are arrested where violations occur.
The measures announced by the Islamabad administration include registration of cases, arrests, sealing of venues in repeat instances, and fines for events held in sealed buildings, forming a stepped enforcement plan for compliance with the one-dish policy in the federal capital.
