State-of-the-art media hub set up to facilitate global coverage of landmark Islamabad peace talks

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar on Saturday announced that the government has put in place comprehensive arrangements at the Jinnah Convention Centre to facilitate seamless and extensive media coverage of the ongoing Islamabad peace talks between the United States and Iran.

Speaking to media representatives, the minister said the initiative reflects Pakistan’s commitment to transparency and its desire to ensure that the international community remains fully informed about the high-stakes negotiations taking place in the federal capital.

He highlighted that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar had already announced a visa-on-arrival facility for journalists arriving from both the United States and Iran, aimed at removing logistical barriers and enabling swift access for foreign media professionals covering the talks.

Tarar revealed that more than 50 journalists from around the world have already reached Islamabad, underscoring the global significance of the peace process. In addition, media representatives from several countries — including China, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Germany, and South Korea — have submitted visa applications to report on the developments, indicating growing international attention on the negotiations.

Welcoming the visiting journalists, the minister said Pakistan views the presence of global media as essential to promoting accurate, real-time dissemination of information. “Our foremost priority is to provide all necessary facilities under one roof so that journalists can perform their duties efficiently and without hindrance,” he stated.

To this end, a fully equipped media centre has been established at the Jinnah Convention Centre, featuring high-speed internet connectivity, modern computing workstations, and advanced printing and communication facilities. These arrangements, the minister noted, are designed to eliminate technical challenges and support uninterrupted reporting for both local and international media outlets.

He further pointed out that the Convention Centre’s close proximity to Islamabad’s high-security Red Zone offers journalists convenient access to key venues associated with the talks. This strategic location enables media personnel to cover developments quickly and comprehensively, despite the stringent security measures in place across the capital.

The Islamabad peace talks, being closely watched worldwide, have drawn significant international attention due to their potential to de-escalate tensions following weeks of conflict in the Middle East. In this context, Pakistan’s efforts to facilitate not only diplomatic engagement but also media access highlight its broader role as a responsible stakeholder in promoting regional and global peace.

Officials emphasised that ensuring smooth media operations is a critical component of hosting such a high-profile event, as it allows the global audience to stay informed while reinforcing Pakistan’s image as a capable host for major international engagements.
