Students in Islamabad to await new exam dates amid US-Iran diplomatic activities

ISLAMABAD: Examinations slated for April 9 and 10 at three centres in Islamabad have been postponed in line with official directives issued in view of ongoing diplomatic activities in the federal capital, according to a notification from the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE).

The notification stated, “In view of ongoing diplomatic activities in Islamabad, the examinations scheduled on April 9 and 10 at the following examination centres are hereby postponed.” The affected centres include Islamabad Model School for Boys (VI-X), G-6/4, Islamabad (Centre A – 1296), Islamabad Model School for Boys (VI-X), G-6/4, Islamabad (Centre B – 9133), and Islamabad Model School for Girls (I-X), Prime Minister’s Staff Colony, G-5, Islamabad (Centre Code – 1375).

The FBISE added that revised dates for these examinations will be announced in due course, ensuring that students and educational institutions are given adequate notice.

The decision comes a day after the Islamabad administration declared a two-day public holiday in light of the upcoming talks between the United States and Iran, which are scheduled to be held in the federal capital. According to a notification issued by the Office of the District Magistrate, Thursday and Friday have been designated as local holidays within the revenue limits of the Islamabad Capital Territory.

While the public holiday affects general administrative and educational activities, essential services such as hospitals will continue to operate without interruption. Citizens have been advised to plan their activities accordingly in view of these temporary changes.

The coordination between educational authorities and the administration underscores the priority given to ensuring smooth conduct of significant international diplomatic engagements, while also keeping the academic calendar in consideration.
