Matric exams postponed in select overseas centres amid regional tensions

The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education has postponed SSC annual examinations in selected overseas centres due to security concerns linked to the ongoing Middle East situation.

According to an official notification, the suspension applies to centres in Iran, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain, while examinations at other international centres will continue as per the existing schedule.

The board has also held back the issuance of roll number slips for students in the affected countries until further notice.

To support affected candidates, Fbise has introduced a facilitation option allowing students to appear for exams in Pakistan or in nearby countries where examinations are proceeding as planned.

Students and institutions can request this arrangement through official email addresses or designated WhatsApp helplines provided by the board.

The notification states that if any affected centre restores necessary arrangements during the exam period, students may be allowed to resume exams under the original schedule.

Institutions facing logistical constraints have been advised to make alternative arrangements, including in-house printing of answer sheets where required.

The board said the situation will be reviewed within 15 days based on security developments, and postponed exams will be rescheduled if conditions improve.

Students and institutions have been advised to remain in contact with the board and follow official updates as the situation evolves.
