Private schools alliance seeks delay in Karachi matric exams starting April 7

Karachi: An alliance representing private schools in Karachi has called for the postponement of matriculation examinations scheduled to begin on April 7, saying preparations for the annual exams are still incomplete.

According to the alliance, several key arrangements have yet to be finalised ahead of the examinations. Examination centres have not been confirmed and admit cards have not been issued, creating concern among students and schools as the start date approaches.

The group also said that examination-related materials have not yet been sent out and that uncertainty remains over the allocation of centres. Other necessary arrangements linked to the conduct of the examinations are also unfinished.

The demand for a delay comes as students prepare to sit the matric exams across Karachi. The alliance has argued that holding the examinations without completing these steps could create difficulties for candidates.

Board says arrangements are complete

In response, a spokesperson for the matriculation board rejected the impression that preparations were pending and said all arrangements for the examinations had already been completed.

The spokesperson said admit cards have been uploaded to the board’s website. According to the board official, admit cards for private candidates have also been dispatched to their home addresses.

The spokesperson further said the board office would remain open on Sunday as well to facilitate students who may still be facing issues in obtaining their documents.

Candidates who have not yet received their admit cards can collect them from Room No 5 at the board office, the spokesperson said.

The differing positions from the private schools’ alliance and the matriculation board have emerged just days before the examinations are due to begin. While the alliance maintains that preparations remain incomplete and has sought a postponement, the board says the required arrangements are in place and students can access or collect their admit cards through the mechanisms already announced.

The examinations are currently scheduled to start from April 7.
