Matric exams: Private schools condemn Karachi board’s exam mismanagement

The All Sindh Private Schools and Colleges Association has strongly criticized the Board of Secondary Education Karachi over what it described as serious administrative shortcomings during the matriculation examinations.

As exams began on Friday, the association said the board’s handling of arrangements was flawed and deeply unsatisfactory. In a joint statement, ASPSCA Chairman Hyder Ali and the general secretary said the last-minute allocation of exam centers, along with repeated changes, reflected clear mismanagement.

The association raised several concerns about the board’s conduct. It said repeated software glitches and problems with enrollment and examination form submissions pointed to the failure of the board’s digital system. It also alleged that setting up smaller exam centers and assigning more than 1,000 students to them could create opportunities for cheating and corruption.

ASPSCA further criticized the decision to let students choose their own exam centers, calling it an ineffective policy that wastes valuable administrative resources. The group also questioned the competence of the Controller of Examinations, arguing that a lack of experience and poor understanding of Karachi’s geography had contributed to the disruption of the examination process.

According to the association, the resulting confusion has caused unnecessary stress for thousands of students and undermined their right to sit exams in a calm and orderly environment.

It has now urged senior authorities to take immediate notice of the situation and introduce emergency measures to restore transparency, discipline, and stability for the rest of the examination period.
