LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Saturday unveiled a major relief package for farmers, particularly wheat growers, announcing financial assistance for landholders owning up to 25 acres across the province.
Under the initiative, farmers will receive a subsidy of Rs150 per litre on 10 litres of diesel per acre, aimed at easing input costs amid rising fuel prices.
In a message on X, the chief minister said that escalating global oil prices, driven by ongoing international crises, have led to a surge in petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan.

She reaffirmed her commitment to stand by farmers during these challenging times, adding that she is personally overseeing the subsidy mechanism to ensure transparent and effective delivery of financial assistance to every eligible farmer.
Highlighting the central role of agriculture, she said farmers are the backbone of Punjab’s economy and pledged continued support to safeguard their interests and reduce their financial burden.
Bike registration fee abolished, fuel subsidy introduced
In a related development, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced a broader relief package aimed at reducing the financial burden on the general public.
Motorbike registration fees across Punjab have been abolished, while transfer fees have also been waived. Additionally, every registered motorbike owner will receive a monthly subsidy of Rs2,000.

Under the scheme, registered motorbikes will also be eligible for a fuel subsidy of Rs100 per litre on up to 20 litres of petrol per month.
The relief package has been launched with immediate effect, with a clear mechanism introduced for citizens to access the subsidy. Motorbike owners can apply by calling helpline 1000, through the mobile application “Maryam ko Batayn” available on the Play Store, or via the official web portal.
Reiterating her government’s commitment, the chief minister said efforts were underway to ease the economic burden on the common man and ensure that meaningful relief reaches every household.
