Foreign ministry launches probe into cash found at officials’ Gujrat residence
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched an inquiry after Rs4 million in cash was reported stolen from two daily-wage officials’ residence in Gujrat. The officials have been asked to explain the source of the funds.

GUJRAT: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has initiated an investigation into the source of Rs4 million in cash reportedly kept by two of its daily-wage employees at their rented residence in Gujrat. The matter came to light after the cash was allegedly stolen from the premises.
According to details, Amir Shaukat and Irfan Ahmed, both employed on daily wages by the MoFA, filed a complaint at the Civil Lines Police Station, stating that unidentified individuals had stolen Rs4 million from their shared accommodation in the Jattuwakal area on March 12.
Following the incident, an official letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs directed both officials to provide a written explanation regarding the source of the funds and how they managed to accumulate such a large sum while earning minimum wage. The officials were given a deadline of three days, until March 16, to submit their responses.
Official sources further revealed that Amir Shaukat, one of the complainants, had been assigned the responsibilities of an assistant protocol official. This role granted him the authority to sign and attest certain documents.
The ministry’s inquiry aims to clarify the origin of the cash and determine whether any irregularities are involved. The investigation is ongoing, and both employees are expected to respond to the ministry’s queries within the stipulated timeframe.
