Ukraine seeks funds and technology for Middle East drone defence assistance, says Zelenskiy

Kyiv — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has stated that Ukraine is willing to provide assistance to Middle Eastern countries in strengthening their drone defences, but expects financial support and technological cooperation in return.

According to President Zelenskiy, Ukraine has dispatched three teams to the Middle East. These teams are composed of experts who will conduct assessments and demonstrate how Ukraine's drone defence systems operate. Zelenskiy explained that Ukraine is prepared to share its expertise in countering drone threats, but emphasized the need for compensation in the form of money and access to advanced technology.

"We are ready to help our partners in the Middle East defend against drone attacks, but we expect appropriate support in return, including financial resources and technology," Zelenskiy said.

The Ukrainian president highlighted the growing threat posed by drones in modern conflicts, noting that Ukraine has developed significant experience in countering such attacks during its ongoing conflict. He said that the teams sent to the Middle East will not only assess the situation on the ground but also showcase Ukraine's defence capabilities.

While Zelenskiy did not specify which Middle Eastern countries are receiving assistance, he made it clear that Ukraine's support is contingent upon reciprocal benefits. The move comes as drone warfare becomes an increasingly prominent issue in global security, particularly in regions experiencing heightened tensions.

Ukraine has been at the forefront of developing and deploying drone defence systems amid its conflict, and the country is now seeking to leverage this expertise to build international partnerships. Zelenskiy’s remarks underline Ukraine’s strategy to secure both financial and technological gains as it offers its services to other nations facing similar security challenges.
