Flight operations at Islamabad airport to be temporarily suspended on March 17
The Pakistan Airports Authority has announced a temporary suspension of all flight operations at Islamabad International Airport on March 17, with six Lahore FIR sectors also set to close the same day.

Islamabad: The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has announced a temporary suspension of flight operations at Islamabad International Airport on March 17, 2024. This decision was communicated through a new Notice to Airmen (Notam) issued by the authority on Sunday.
According to the PAA, both landing and take-off activities at Islamabad airport will be halted for the specified period. The authority further stated that six Lahore FIR (Flight Information Region) sectors will also remain closed on the same day, impacting air traffic management in the region.
The PAA had previously issued a Notam for the suspension of flight operations on March 16, but this notice has now been withdrawn. The latest Notam confirms that the temporary suspension will only apply on March 17.
No reasons for the suspension were provided in the official announcement. The PAA has advised airlines and passengers to stay updated regarding flight schedules and operational changes.
The temporary closure is expected to affect both domestic and international flights scheduled to operate from Islamabad International Airport on March 17. Passengers are encouraged to check with their respective airlines for the latest updates and possible rescheduling of flights.
The PAA has not disclosed further details regarding the duration of the suspension or any additional measures being taken during this period.
