CM Bugti voices concern over delay in federal funds for People’s Train Service
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has expressed displeasure over delays in federal funding for the People’s Train Service and urged authorities to prioritize the project. He also reviewed progress on expanding fibre-optic connectivity in the province.

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Thursday expressed dissatisfaction with the federal government's delay in releasing funds for the People’s Train Service project. Chairing a meeting to review the progress of ongoing development projects under the provincial Public Sector Development Programme, CM Bugti emphasized the importance of providing improved and safer travel facilities to the public.
During the meeting, the chief minister directed the relevant authorities to prioritize the completion of the People’s Train Service scheme. He stated that negligence in this matter would not be tolerated, underscoring the provincial government's commitment to enhancing public transport infrastructure.
The meeting also received updates on other development initiatives. Officials informed the chief minister that the project to provide fibre-optic internet connectivity to 1,100 educational institutions across Balochistan is advancing rapidly. According to the briefing, this project is expected to be completed within the next six months.
Furthermore, it was revealed that in the subsequent phase, there are plans under consideration to expand the fibre-optic network. This expansion aims to connect all educational institutions, hospitals, and government offices in Balochistan, with the objective of promoting digital governance and modernizing public services.
CM Bugti reiterated the provincial government’s resolve to ensure timely completion of key development projects and called for strict adherence to set timelines. He highlighted that the provision of quality services in transport and digital infrastructure remains a top priority for his administration.
