Municipal workers in Peshawar stage sit-in over unpaid salaries and pensions

PESHAWAR: Employees of the Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) staged a sit-in protest on Charsadda Road on Thursday, demanding the immediate release of their pending salaries and pension payments.

According to details, the protest was triggered by delays in the disbursement of salaries and pensions to WSSP staff. Workers gathered on Charsadda Road, raising slogans and holding banners to draw attention to their grievances. The protest caused disruptions in traffic flow in the area, with commuters facing significant delays.

Protesters stated that they have not received their salaries and pensions for several months, creating financial hardships for them and their families. They called on the relevant authorities to address the issue promptly and ensure timely payments in the future.

The sit-in continued for several hours, with workers vowing to persist with their protest until their demands are met. They urged the government and WSSP management to take immediate action to resolve the matter.
