US and Israel accused of war crimes after deadly airstrikes on Iranian civilian sites

Tehran — The United States and Israel are facing accusations of committing "war crimes" in Iran following a series of airstrikes that have resulted in significant civilian casualties and destruction of non-military infrastructure, according to Iranian officials.

The latest incident occurred on Sunday morning in Najafabad, where a local office providing traffic and driving services was struck by fighter jets. Akbar Salehi, the security and law enforcement deputy of the Isfahan Governorate, stated that the jets, which he linked to the US and Israel, targeted the facility. Salehi reported that a second missile hit the same location just minutes later, as residents and emergency workers were attempting to assist those wounded in the initial strike.

According to Salehi, the "double-tap" airstrike killed 19 civilians who had gathered at the site to access municipal services. Emergency responders were also among the casualties. The Iranian Red Crescent Society has formally condemned the attack.

In a separate incident, a bombing on Qeshm Island targeted a water desalination plant, which has led to the disruption of fresh water supply for 30 villages in the area. Local officials have stated that the destruction of the plant has severely impacted access to clean water for thousands of residents.

Iranian authorities have also reported that recent airstrikes have damaged additional civilian infrastructure, including a park that housed emergency responders, hospitals, and schools. They claim that these attacks have killed hundreds of civilians and have called for international accountability.

The accusations of war crimes have intensified calls for investigations into the conduct of the US and Israel in the region. The Iranian Red Crescent Society has formally lodged a complaint regarding the attacks, highlighting the impact on both civilians and emergency personnel.
