Policeman killed in Jamrud during operation against drug smugglers

KHYBER: A police official was shot dead by suspected drug smugglers in the Chora area of Jamrud on Saturday night, according to police statements. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Ali Masjid police station.

Authorities reported that Hazrat Hussin, the police official who was killed, had gone to Chora to apprehend individuals involved in drug trafficking when he came under fire from the suspects. Police stated that this attack happened just hours after another police official was reportedly robbed of his automatic weapon and bulletproof jacket by a group of suspected drug smugglers in the same area.

Hazrat Hussin had previously served as the additional station house officer in Landi Kotal. His funeral prayers were held at the police training centre in Shah Kas. The ceremony was attended by senior law enforcement officials, including CCPO Peshawar Dr Saeed, the DPO Khyber, as well as other police and security personnel.

The incident highlights the ongoing risks faced by police officers in the region as they continue their efforts to combat drug smuggling and related criminal activities.
