ISLAMABAD: Parliamentarians on Sunday called for solidarity among Muslim nations and proactive diplomatic measures, warning that any conflict in the region would undermine regional economies and benefit adversaries, while reaffirming Pakistan’s readiness to respond decisively and the strength of its foreign policy.

Speaking exclusively to a local news channel, MNAs from multiple political parties expressed confidence in Pakistan’s ability to respond firmly to any threat. They praised the government’s strong foreign policy and strengthened ties with neighbouring countries, while urging unity to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty and national interests.

MNA Dr Shahida Rehmani said Pakistan is fully prepared with contingency plans to address regional challenges. She emphasised the country’s strengthened diplomatic relations and lauded the strategic policies of the Prime Minister, the President and Field Marshal Asim Munir, while affirming Pakistan’s capability to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

MQM MNA Syed Hafeezuddin also stressed that Islamic countries must recognise the importance of standing together on a single platform and demonstrating unity to defend Islam and their nations. He warned that failure to do so would allow adversaries to benefit, with potentially dangerous consequences if the conflict continues.

MNA Mirza Ikhtiar Baig highlighted that any prolonged conflict could negatively affect the economy, weaken the Pakistani rupee and reduce remittances from overseas Pakistanis. He stressed that maintaining national unity is essential to protect the country’s financial stability and prevent the economic fallout of war.

He also appreciated Pakistan’s robust and well-coordinated ability to defend its land and sovereignty, highlighting the country’s strategic preparedness, strong military capabilities and the leadership’s commitment to ensuring national security against any external threat.

In conclusion, parliamentarians from across political parties emphasised Pakistan’s preparedness, the importance of national unity, strong foreign policy and regional cooperation, while highlighting the country’s capability to defend its sovereignty, safeguard economic stability and protect Islam and national interests against any external threats.
