China calls for dialogue with US amid Trump’s criticism of Beijing’s allies

Beijing — China has emphasized the importance of continued dialogue with the United States, following recent remarks by former US President Donald Trump targeting some of Beijing’s key international partners.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated on Saturday that maintaining communication between China and the US is essential for global stability. He warned against unilateral actions and the use of force in international relations. “The world cannot return to the law of the jungle; Resorting to force at every turn does not prove one's might,” Wang said.

Wang’s comments come in response to Trump’s recent statements criticizing countries that have close ties with China. The former US president has repeatedly expressed concerns about Beijing’s growing influence and has called for tougher measures against nations that cooperate closely with China.

According to Wang, China is committed to resolving differences through dialogue and cooperation. He stressed that mutual respect and peaceful negotiation are the only viable paths to resolving disputes between major powers. “Dialogue is the only correct choice for China and the United States,” Wang said.

The Chinese foreign minister also highlighted the risks of escalating tensions, cautioning that aggressive policies could undermine international peace and security. He reiterated China’s stance that global challenges require joint efforts and multilateral solutions, rather than confrontation.

Trump’s recent comments have drawn attention to the ongoing competition between the US and China over global influence. The former president’s approach has often involved pressuring US allies and partners to limit their engagement with Beijing, a policy that has been met with criticism from Chinese officials.

Wang concluded by urging all parties to avoid actions that could destabilize the international order. He called for a renewed commitment to diplomacy and cooperation, emphasizing that “resorting to force at every turn does not prove one's might.”
