Court sentences woman and accomplice to death for husband's murder in Peshawar

A local court in Peshawar has sentenced a woman and another individual to death for their involvement in the murder of her husband. The verdict was delivered by Additional Sessions Judge Imtiaz Ali after the completion of the trial.

The court found that Tahir Khan had committed the intentional murder of Waqar Ali, who was employed at the Civil Secretariat Peshawar. The incident occurred on May 23, 2023, when Waqar Ali was killed by unidentified individuals near the Hassan Garhi area within the jurisdiction of Faqirabad police station.

The court also determined that Ms Nayab, the wife of the deceased, had abetted Tahir Khan in the intentional murder of her husband. Both accused were found guilty of intentional murder and were sentenced to death. In addition to the death penalty, the court ordered each of the convicts to pay Rs1 million as compensation to the legal heirs of the deceased.

The case was initiated on the complaint of Waqar Ali's father. The court stated that there were no mitigating circumstances in the case, leading to the imposition of the maximum penalty under the law.

The ruling was based on the evidence presented during the trial, which convinced the court of the involvement of both accused in the crime. The sentences are subject to appeal as per legal procedure.
