Rana Sanaullah urges opposition to rise above political, personal differences, join parliamentary proceedings

ISLAMABAD: Rana Sanaullah on Wednesday called on the opposition to rise above personal and political differences in the interest of national stability, stressing that peace and progress must take precedence over partisan considerations.

Speaking exclusively to a private news channel, the adviser to the prime minister emphasized that the current situation demands unity and responsible political conduct rather than confrontation. He said the country is facing serious security challenges and requires collective wisdom to navigate the difficult phase.

Sanaullah revealed that Shehbaz Sharif has invited opposition leaders to attend an in-camera security briefing aimed at taking them into confidence on key national security matters. He said the move reflects the government’s intention to build consensus and ensure that all political stakeholders are fully aware of the prevailing security dynamics.

He reiterated that the government maintains a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and is determined to eliminate the menace with full force. The adviser added that the government is ready to share its comprehensive counterterrorism strategy with political parties to forge national unity against extremist threats.

Warning against external elements seeking to exploit internal divisions, Sanaullah stressed that political disunity at such a critical juncture could undermine national stability. He urged all parties to demonstrate maturity and prioritize the country’s interests above political rivalries.

Referring to the opposition’s response to the prime minister’s invitation, he said they had assured the government that they would consult their leadership and formally communicate their reply soon.

The adviser concluded that at a time of heightened security concerns, political cohesion remains essential to safeguarding peace, stability, and the country’s long-term progress.
