The obsession surrounding the release of Grand Theft Auto VI has reached new extremes, with reports suggesting that some fans are resorting to reckless tactics in hopes of uncovering leaked gameplay footage.
According to online reports, a handful of overzealous followers have begun flying drones near the offices of Rockstar Games, attempting to peer through windows for any sign of the highly anticipated title, widely regarded as one of the most awaited games of the decade.
This is not the first time fans have pushed boundaries. Similar incidents were reported in 2024, when individuals allegedly tried to sneak into Rockstar’s New England studio under cover of darkness just to catch a glimpse of early development material.
The behaviour highlights just how far some fans are willing to go for a first look at the next iteration of Los Santos. Amid the growing excitement, a few determined followers have even reached the entrance of Rockstar North in Edinburgh, with some claiming to have briefly seen unreleased GTA 6 posters.
While these stunts may seem thrilling to those involved, they have raised alarms within the wider fan community. Many worry that such actions could disrupt development or force the studio to tighten security, potentially delaying the game’s release. Gaming outlet Dexerto reported that Rockstar is now weighing the possibility of postponing the physical launch to reduce the risk of leaks.
The claim was initially reported this week by Polish outlet PPE and later echoed by several well-known GTA community insiders, including YouTuber KiwiTalkz, who shared multiple accounts of extreme fan behaviour.
Posting on X, formerly Twitter, the YouTuber warned that some fans would go as far as breaking into retail stores or manufacturing facilities to steal copies of the game, with insiders potentially leaking content. He also noted that Rockstar developers have long dealt with attempts by fans to infiltrate their offices, ranging from fake IDs to drones hovering outside windows.
Although Rockstar has not issued an official statement, trespassing or surveillance attempts could lead to police involvement and criminal charges. Ironically, those trying to shorten their wait for GTA 6 may end up extending it.
Grand Theft Auto VI is currently scheduled for release on November 19, 2026.
