LAHORE/RAJANPUR: Punjab Police Rajanpur achieved a major breakthrough against Katcha-area criminals by conducting a highly targeted operation against armed dacoits in Katcha Umrani, Sukhani and Katcha Karachi areas.

According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, the Rajanpur Police employed modern surveillance tools and carried out drone strikes on the hideouts of the notorious Umrani gang. Several bunkers and fortified shelters used by the criminals were completely destroyed during the operation.

As a result of sustained pressure and an effective strategy by the police, 11 highly dangerous and most-wanted dacoits belonging to the Umrani gang surrendered before law enforcement authorities. The accused laid down their weapons and handed over heavy arms to the police.

Rajanpur District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Imran said the surrendered criminals had long been wanted in multiple serious cases, including kidnapping for ransom, murder, robbery and other heinous offences. He assured that all legal procedures would be completed to secure exemplary punishment for the arrested suspects.

Issuing a stern warning to other criminal elements hiding in riverine areas, the DPO urged them to surrender voluntarily or face strict police action. He added that intense exchanges of fire between Rajanpur Police and remaining dacoits were still ongoing in some pockets.
