CM Maryam sets deadlines for key health projects across Punjab

  • Says recruitment for 219 posts underway as Cancer, cardiac institutes to open this month

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed the relevant authorities to ensure the swift completion and operationalization of key healthcare projects across the province, setting firm deadlines for their inauguration.

The chief minister ordered that the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research and the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology in Lahore be made operational within the current month. She also fixed timelines for the early completion of the Nawaz Sharif Institutes of Cardiology in Jinnah and Sargodha, along with other ongoing hospital projects.

According to officials, construction of the basement and ground floor of the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research has been completed. Essential facilities, including patient waiting areas, a mosque and residential accommodations for doctors, have also been finalised. Pakistan’s first Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research is scheduled to become operational later this month.

Recruitment of doctors and professional staff has commenced, with interviews underway for 219 positions. The chief minister also approved the re-advertisement of the post of head of the institute to ensure the appointment of a highly qualified professional.

Maryam Nawaz further set January 31 as the deadline for the launch of the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology in Lahore and directed that renovation work at Lady Willingdon Hospital be completed at the earliest.

Reaffirming her government’s commitment to strengthening public healthcare, the chief minister said the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research would provide treatment to cancer patients from across Pakistan, ensuring access to quality medical care without discrimination.

CM pays tribute to security forces for neutralising eight terrorists in Bannu

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz paid tribute to the security forces for neutralising eight Indian-backed terrorists in Bannu and other areas.

In a statement, the chief minister lauded the professionalism and bravery of the security personnel for thwarting terrorist plans and safeguarding lives. She expressed gratitude to the forces for their timely and effective action against militancy.

The chief minister said the complete elimination of terrorism remained the government’s unwavering resolve, adding that the nation stood united against all forms of extremism.

She further remarked that the brave soldiers of the armed forces never hesitate to lay down their lives for the country and the nation.

CM expresses grief over martyrdom of six police officials in Tank blast

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed deep grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of six police officials, including a station house officer, in a bomb blast in district Tank.

In a statement, the chief minister extended heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the bereaved families and prayed for strength and patience for them in this difficult time.

She strongly condemned the bomb blast in Tank district, saying such cowardly acts could not weaken the resolve of the state against terrorism.

The chief minister reiterated solidarity with the families of the martyrs and paid tribute to the sacrifices of police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty to protect the nation.

CM expresses grief over passing of former Test cricketer

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former Test cricketer Mohammad Ilyas.

In a statement, the chief minister conveyed heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the bereaved family.

She paid tribute to the late Mohammad Ilyas for his services to Pakistan cricket, saying his contributions to the sport would be remembered with respect.

The chief minister prayed for the departed soul and for patience and strength for the bereaved family.
