Forensic report confirms presence of K-P CM Afridi in May 9 videos

A forensic report from the Punjab Forensic Science Laboratory (PFSL) has confirmed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi was present in video footage from the May 9 incidents in Peshawar. The video also showed other prominent figures, including Kamran Bangash, Taimur Jhagra, and Irfan Saleem.

The PFSL conducted an extensive audio-visual analysis of 16 video clips provided by Peshawar Police. The clips, submitted by Police Station Sharqi in Peshawar, were examined frame-by-frame. While most of the footage showed no tampering, some clips showed signs of insertion, and two videos, featuring Afridi and Saleem, were found to have been spliced.

The forensic analysis, which took place between December 19 and December 23, 2025, confirmed that the individuals in the footage were indeed Afridi, Saleem, Bangash, and Jhagra, matching their profile photos with the people seen in the videos. The report strictly focused on the visual content.

In response to the findings, Peshawar Police have started consultations regarding the possibility of nominating Afridi as an accused in the Radio Pakistan attack case. Investigators have been briefed, and legal assistance has been sought from the police’s legal department. A detailed review of the PFSL report is ongoing, and the police are expected to submit a supplementary challan.

The forensic report was formally submitted to the court after being received by the police three days ago. The investigation into the Radio Pakistan attack continues as authorities look into Afridi’s involvement based on the video evidence.
