Two children injured in stray dog attacks at Karachi University

KARACHI: Stray dogs injured two children on Friday inside the University of Karachi when a five year old boy was mauled on the face and a girl named Hoorain was bitten on the foot near the campus clinic, according to the medical officer.

The medical officer informed the university administration that the boy suffered facial wounds after being attacked by multiple dogs, while Hoorain sustained a foot injury from a separate bite incident.

The officer urged the administration to take immediate measures to control stray dogs on the premises. There was no information regarding what may have triggered the aggression of the dogs.

Parents of the injured children said the campaign to manage stray dogs on campus had been inactive for several months, which they believe contributed to the rise in incidents. They called for the immediate resumption of the campaign.

More than 35000 dog bite cases have been reported this year in Civil Hospital, Jinnah Hospital and Indus Hospital.
