Meanwhile, Pakistan and Turkiye on Thursday agreed to establish a Joint Working Group to further deepen cooperation between the interior ministries of both countries, as Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held delegation-level talks with his Turkish counterpart, Ali Yerlikaya in Islamabad.
The Joint Working Group, to meet four times a year, will serve as a structured forum to advance collaboration in key areas of mutual concern. During the meeting, both sides held comprehensive consultations on counterterrorism, counter-narcotics, human trafficking, border security, cybercrime, coast guard operations, and police cooperation.
The two ministers agreed to enhance practical cooperation in counterterrorism, counter-narcotics, immigration and human trafficking control, and police training, reaffirming the growing strategic partnership between the two brotherly nations.
Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said Türkiye attached great importance to its fraternal ties with Pakistan and remained keen to expand collaboration in all fields. He also praised Pakistan’s active role in counterterrorism and counter-narcotics efforts.
Turkiye vows to strengthen ties in diverse fields
Earlier, addressing a ceremony at the passing-out parade of Assistant Superintendents of Police at the National Police Academy in Islamabad, the Turkish interior minister reaffirmed Turkiye’s commitment to move forward with Pakistan in “every field—from education to technology and from intelligence to operational capacity.”
He lauded the role of Pakistan’s police in the fight against terrorism, describing it as a symbol of determination and commitment. He added that the police forces of both countries represented courage, loyalty, and sacrifice.
Pak-Türkiye to Launch Tech-Driven Joint Facility for Stronger Disaster Preparedness
A high-level Turkish delegation led by Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya on Wednesday visited the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to explore technology-driven cooperation and strengthen the Pakistan–Türkiye partnership in disaster preparedness and climate resilience.
The delegation—also comprising AFAD President Ali Hamza Pehlivan and accompanied by Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhary—received a detailed briefing on NDMA’s technology-based transformation, including advancements in early warning systems, real-time data integration, and risk-informed preparedness models.
NDMA Chairman Lt-Gen Inam Haider Malik highlighted the Authority’s shift from a reactive response mechanism to a proactive, anticipatory disaster management system, stressing the need for cutting-edge tools as Pakistan ranks as the fourth most vulnerable country globally to climate-induced disasters.
Discussions reaffirmed the longstanding Pak–Türkiye partnership in humanitarian response and resilience building. NDMA proposed establishing a Joint Pak–Türkiye Facility near the NEOC, linked to a global center for tracking disaster trajectories and shaping tech-driven strategies.
Ali Yerlikaya appreciated NDMA’s modern preparedness systems and resilience initiatives, while the Turkish side expressed keen interest in the proposed joint facility and reiterated its commitment to technology-based collaboration between NDMA and AFAD.
Both sides emphasized expanding bilateral and regional cooperation in disaster risk management, capacity building, and technical exchange.
