LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday departed for Brazil to attend the COP-30 Conference in Belém, where she will present Punjab’s flagship environmental and climate-resilience initiatives, including Clean Punjab, e-mobility, and ongoing wildlife reforms, besides addressing the Climate Resilient Regional Leadership Meeting.
According to a statement issued from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the chief minister will hold a series of high-level engagements on the sidelines of COP-30, including meetings with the vice presidents of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). She will also confer with senior officials of the World Bank’s Climate Change division, the Global Green Institute, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The visit, they said, holds significant importance for Punjab’s environmental agenda and international climate partnerships.

Meeting with lawmakers and ticket holders of Wazirabad and Mianwali
Earlier, CM Maryam Nawaz met assembly members and ticket holders from Wazirabad and Mianwali, where public issues, local needs and development projects came under detailed discussion. The parliamentarians lauded the chief minister’s special initiatives, expressing particular gratitude for the launch of the Green Bus Project in both districts.
The lawmakers from Wazirabad also appreciated the Clean Punjab Project, while parliamentarians across both constituencies reaffirmed their commitment to work jointly with the chief minister on improving the province’s law and order situation. They also paid tribute to her for launching the e-Biz portal to promote business activity and for taking a historic initiative against illegal occupation of private properties.
Speaking to the delegation, CM Maryam Nawaz said serving the people was the manifesto of the PML-N and Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, adding that initiatives such as the Kisan Card, free doorstep medicine delivery, and other welfare programs were evidence of the government’s efforts for development and prosperity.
She highlighted that, for the first time in Punjab’s history, a Rs10,000 pay order had been delivered to the doorsteps of three million people, while 1.5 million citizens were receiving Rs3,000 per month through ration cards. She reiterated that ensuring the protection of people’s lives and property was the state’s foremost responsibility, adding that her government would not allow chaos to take root. “From the very first day, I have been determined to serve God’s creation,” she noted.
The chief minister assured parliamentarians that the government would continue supporting Punjab’s farmers and would fulfil all responsibilities in this regard. “Many major projects are in the pipeline for the people of Punjab,” she added.
The parliamentarians remarked that the green bus service had reached even the rural areas, with people in Mianwali praising CM Maryam Nawaz’s efforts. They said she had earned public admiration for implementing projects promptly after announcing them. They added that her transparent and merit-based governance was reshaping the province’s destiny.
They further observed that the launch of the green bus service in Mianwali reflected her vision of equitable development and noted that she had once again fulfilled her promise by rolling out the same project in Wazirabad.
