‘Silence Emboldens Israel’: PTI urges global action to end Gaza carnage

  • Sh Waqas slams Adiala Jail administration for defying court orders on Imran Khan-KP CM’s meeting
  • Says PTI to file contempt plea over denial of meetings with party’s founder, demanding enforcement of IHC orders

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday urged the United Nations (UN), the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the wider Muslim world to take urgent, united, and decisive steps to stop Israel’s ongoing aggression in Gaza, protect innocent civilians, and end the continuing siege and devastation.

In a strongly worded statement, PTI Central Secretary Information Sheikh Waqas Akram condemned the latest Israeli airstrikes on the besieged enclave that resulted in the martyrdom and injury of dozens of Palestinians, terming them a grave violation of international law and basic human rights.

He said the attacks represented a “direct assault” on the recently negotiated ceasefire and on ongoing international efforts to restore peace in the Middle East. “The silence and inaction of the global community, particularly the Muslim nations, will only embolden Israel to continue its atrocities against the defenceless people of Gaza,” the PTI spokesperson warned.

Waqas Akram stressed that it was the collective moral, legal, and humanitarian responsibility of the international community to intervene immediately and ensure an end to the violence, adding that PTI stood firmly with the Palestinian people in their just struggle for freedom and dignity.

Meanwhile, the PTI also strongly condemned the Adiala Jail administration and the Punjab government for what it called “deliberate contempt” of the Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) clear orders permitting meetings with PTI Patron-in-Chief Imran Khan.

Waqas Akram lamented that despite repeated IHC directives, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mohammad Sohail Afridi and other authorized visitors were denied access to meet Imran Khan, calling it a “blatant act of political victimization and a mockery of judicial authority.”

“PTI demands immediate and decisive action against those responsible for defying court orders and calls for the full restoration of Imran Khan’s constitutionally guaranteed right to meet his family, legal team, and political representatives,” he asserted.

He added that denying the elected Chief Minister of a province the right to consult his party leader sets a dangerous precedent undermining democratic governance and the rule of law.

The PTI spokesperson announced that the party would file a contempt of court petition against the jail administration for its continued defiance, demanding an end to what he termed “unlawful incarceration and political vendetta” and the resumption of biweekly meetings as directed by the IHC.
