Omar Ayub pulls out all SC appeals; wife to contest election

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Omar Ayub has withdrawn all his pending petitions from the Supreme Court, the court was informed during a hearing on Monday.

A five-member constitutional bench headed by Justice Aminuddin Khan was hearing cases related to the disqualification of PTI leaders Omar Ayub and Shibli Faraz.

Appearing before the court, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said Omar Ayub had decided to withdraw all his appeals and that his wife would contest the election from his constituency.

The counsel added that the appeal against the denotification of the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly was also being withdrawn, as Mahmood Khan Achakzai had already been notified for the position.

Regarding Shibli Faraz, Barrister Gohar informed the court that he had instructed the withdrawal of his appeal against the notification of the Senate chairman, but the petition challenging the Election Commission’s notification would remain active.

The court issued notices on Shibli Faraz’s petition and adjourned the hearing until October 29.
