As per the directives of the Punjab government, the annual Fall/Autumn school break will remain cancelled this year. All public and private schools have been ordered to remain open during this time.
The decision was announced in August of this year that there would be no Fall/Autumn break for schools across the province. The decision came after the summer vacation had been extended by two weeks earlier in June due to intense floods that swept through much of Punjab.
During that period, schools shifted to online classes to ensure the academic calendar stayed on track.
If schools had ended summer break on time and there was no cancellation, Fall/Autumn break would have started on October 17th till October 27th.
Officials in the Punjab education department explained that the extended summer break had already provided students and teachers with additional rest time, making a separate autumn break unnecessary.
