Will Punjab extend summer vacations for schools and colleges?

Summer holidays in schools across Punjab are scheduled to end on August 15, but parents are still awaiting confirmation on whether the provincial government will extend the break. According to a notification issued in May, all public and private schools are expected to reopen on August 15, 2025, to resume academic activities.

However, low attendance is anticipated on the reopening day. If no extension is announced, schools are expected to resume full academic sessions by August 18, following the weekend. As of now, the provincial government has not made any official announcement regarding the extension of summer vacations. Officials have stated that any decision will be based on an evaluation of the prevailing weather conditions.

The schedule for school timings in Punjab will remain as follows:

  • Single shift schools:
    • Monday to Thursday: 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM
    • Friday: 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM
  • Double shift schools:
    • Morning Shift:
      • Monday to Thursday: 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM
      • Friday: 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM
    • Evening Shift:
      • Monday to Thursday: 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM
      • Friday: 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM

This decision is still pending, and families across Punjab are waiting for the final announcement.
