Punjab Police collect Rs. 26 million in fines in just 24 hours

LAHORE: The Punjab Police launched a major enforcement operation on Tuesday, issuing thousands of new driving licenses and collecting millions in fines in a single day. According to a police spokesperson, a total of 34,342 driving licenses were issued as part of efforts to promote lawful driving practices among citizens. At the same time, traffic police officers issued 37,789 challans (tickets) for various traffic violations, leading to a fine collection of Rs. 26 million.

The enforcement campaign also focused on polluting vehicles, with 703 smoke-emitting vehicles fined. Many of these vehicles were impounded at 19 different police stations across the province.

Inspector General of Punjab Police directed officials to maintain strict action against traffic violators and emphasized that road safety and adherence to traffic regulations remain top priorities. He also noted that 127 driving training schools are currently operating under the Punjab Police to offer formal driving education to citizens.

The IGP further instructed that coordinated efforts be made to recover fines from defaulters, ensuring full enforcement of traffic laws across the province.
