Bumrah criticised for ‘jets-down’ celebration in Asia Cup final against Pakistan

DUBAI: Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah came under fire on social media for his “jets-down” celebration after dismissing Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf in the Asia Cup 2025 final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

The moment came when Bumrah delivered a fiery full ball that tailed into off stump, sending Rauf’s off stump flying after the batter was late to bring down his bat. Following the dismissal, Bumrah mimicked a “jet going down” gesture, sparking immediate reactions online.

Pakistani fans condemned the act, calling it unsporting and a poor response to Rauf’s earlier “6-0” gesture during the September 21 clash. Many argued that such celebrations crossed the line of sportsmanship in a high-profile final already charged with tension.

India’s bowling attack, led by Kuldeep Yadav’s four wickets, eventually bundled Pakistan out for 146 in 19.1 overs. Captain Suryakumar Yadav’s decision to bowl first proved decisive, but Bumrah’s celebration became one of the most discussed moments off the field.
