Pakistani singer Hasan Raheem shared that his wedding last month turned into an unexpected cultural celebration, offering a unique glimpse into Gilgit-Baltistan’s traditions. The event, which featured viral dance videos, became a celebration not only for his fans but for the entire country, drawing attention to the region’s cultural heritage.
In a recent interview on the BBC Asian Network, Hasan explained that the decision to share the wedding’s dance-filled moments was spontaneous. He never intended for his moves to go viral but was pleased by the positive response. His dance, blending traditional Gilgit-Baltistan rhythms with a modern twist, quickly gained traction on social media.
Hasan fondly recalled how his wedding became a “crash course” on Gilgit culture for Pakistan and beyond. “I saw a meme that said Hasan Raheem kept a bit of a wedding in his dance,” he laughed, noting how his dance moves became the focal point of the event.
Though initially hesitant about documenting the wedding, Hasan’s mother encouraged him to embrace the celebration. “I love my mum for that,” he said, acknowledging her role in helping him proudly showcase his cultural roots.
The spontaneous videos, filled with joy and tradition, received widespread praise. Hasan admitted that he was surprised by how much people enjoyed the dance. “If the music career doesn’t happen, we know what to do. We’re dance choreographers at weddings now,” he joked.
Hasan, who announced his marriage to his cousin in August, had earlier sparked speculation in April with a wedding-themed Instagram post, which was later revealed to be a promotional campaign for his music.
