AJK PM announces Rs1bn package for Poonch at pro-army Rawalakot rally

RAWALAKOT: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq on Sunday announced a Rs1 billion relief and development package for Poonch while urging people to stand united with Pakistan’s armed forces.

The announcement came at the Marka-e-Haq, Bunyanum Marsoos rally held at Sabir Shaheed Stadium, where thousands gathered, chanting slogans of “Pak Army Zindabad” and “Pakistan Zindabad.”

The event was attended by senior ministers, former prime ministers, leaders of political and religious parties, civil society representatives, and large crowds of supporters.

In a forceful address, Chaudhry Anwarul Haq said his government is committed to promoting unity and solidarity, adding that the coalition government had enabled the relief package as a step towards addressing the longstanding deprivations of Poonch.

Referring to recent tensions along the Line of Control (LoC), the AJK premier accused India of attempting to escalate the situation in Lipa sector over the past 72 hours. He praised Pakistan’s military for what he described as a “befitting reply” and urged Kashmiris to remain vigilant against “enemy conspiracies.” He also paid tribute to the bravery of local people and armed forces.

Chaudhry Anwarul Haq further claimed that India had been left in “mourning” after Pakistan and Saudi Arabia signed their historic defence agreement earlier this week. He said Indian forces had faced a “crushing defeat” and reiterated his vow to take the Kashmir dispute back to the OIC and Arab League.

The prime minister thanked the political leadership of AJK and coalition partners for their cooperation, stressing that the bonds of loyalty with Pakistan are “unconditional and permanent.”

Former premiers Sardar Atiq Ahmed Khan, Sardar Yaqoob Khan, Raja Farooq Haider Khan, and Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, along with other senior figures, joined the rally. A large contingent of workers from various parties and religious groups also participated, many of whom praised recent military operations and expressed solidarity with Palestine.

The announcement of the Poonch package, combined with the rally’s strong pro-army message, highlighted the region’s alignment with federal security policy and emphasis on political unity amid rising regional tensions.
