Terror strikes police posts in KP, Balochistan: one martyred, six injured

PESHAWAR: Terrorists carried out back-to-back attacks on police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, leaving one policeman martyred, six others injured, and one reported missing.

In Balochistan’s Sherani district, militants stormed the District Headquarters Police and Levies Line late at night, around 11 pm. Deputy Commissioner Hazrat Wali Kakar confirmed that policeman Altaf-ur-Rehman of Khanozai embraced martyrdom, while Levies personnel Wahid Harifal and Kalu Khan sustained injuries.

Another official, Azam Khan, remains unaccounted for as search operations are underway. The attack also knocked out the police station’s communication system. The Sherani administration has assured support for the families of the victims and vowed strict action against the perpetrators.

Meanwhile, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district, more than 200 terrorists staged a major assault on the Mazanga police post under Hoveed police station limits. According to DPO Salim Abbas Kalachi, the militants used explosives to damage the post’s boundary wall.

Police forces retaliated with heavy gunfire, eventually repelling the attackers. Four policemen sustained minor injuries and were shifted to hospital. Law enforcement officials claimed to have killed several militants during the exchange.
