MDCAT exam postponed countrywide due to floods – New dates announced

The Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) has been postponed nationwide due to the ongoing flood crisis in Pakistan. Originally scheduled for October 5, the exam will now take place on Sunday, October 26, authorities confirmed.

According to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), the change was made on the instruction of Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal. The minister emphasized that the decision was made to accommodate students facing difficulties in flood-affected areas.

The new exam date was finalized after consultations with universities across the country to ensure agreement from all relevant stakeholders.

Previously, the MDCAT was scheduled for October 5, but widespread flooding has disrupted preparations and travel for thousands of candidates. By rescheduling the exam to October 26, officials hope to give students additional time to prepare and recover from the ongoing challenges.

Minister Mustafa Kamal reaffirmed that the well-being of students remains a priority for the government. “The exam date was changed purely in the interest of students affected by the floods,” he said, noting that authorities continue to monitor the situation.

Under the revised schedule, candidates from Punjab will take the exam under the University of Health Sciences, Lahore; candidates from Sindh will appear under IBA University, Sukkur; Khyber Pakhtunkhwa students will sit the test under Khyber Medical University; and the University of Balochistan will oversee the test in Balochistan. Students from the federal capital and Azad Jammu and Kashmir will take the exam at Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University, Islamabad, which will also host candidates from Gilgit-Baltistan and Riyadh.
