During his appearance on the July 2 episode of the New Heights podcast with NFL stars Jason and Travis Kelce, the 61-year-old Oscar-winning actor opened up about his experiences working with Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon on the 1991 classic Thelma & Louise.
Pitt, who had his breakout role in the road drama, admitted that meeting his co-stars left him in awe at the time. Reflecting on their initial encounter, he said, “When I first met Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon, I was. Yeah.” However, he quickly overcame the starstruck feeling. The film marked a pivotal point in his career as he played J.D., a charming drifter who seduces Davis’ character Thelma before stealing her money and disappearing.
Despite being relatively unknown back then, Pitt caught the attention of his seasoned co-stars. Geena Davis, in a 2020 interview with People, recalled, “I could tell when he was auditioning that he was super talented. He really has ‘it.’” She added that it’s no surprise Pitt’s stardom has only grown over the years, acknowledging his undeniable talent and continued success.
Susan Sarandon also praised Pitt for his exceptional performance in the film. In a 2021 interview with Extra, Sarandon shared, “What impressed me was his sense of humor.
