CM Maryam inaugurates second phase of Clinics on Wheels project, promises free medical treatment

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has reiterated her commitment to improving healthcare access across the province, with a primary focus on providing free medical treatment to the public.

During the inauguration of the second phase of the Clinics on Wheels project, she emphasized that her government is taking significant steps to ensure healthcare services reach every corner of the province.

The mobile clinics, now fully operational across all districts and urban areas of Punjab, are equipped to deliver essential healthcare services directly to the public. The CM personally inspected the mobile clinics and handed over keys to new vehicles that will be used by doctors to serve the community.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed that her vision of delivering healthcare services directly to people’s doorsteps is now becoming a reality, with the mobile clinics providing medicines for cancer, hepatitis, and cardiac patients. “Medicines are now being delivered directly to the homes of patients,” she stated, highlighting the accessibility and convenience that these clinics offer.

The CM commended the efforts of Health Minister Imran Nazir, the Health Secretary, and the Primary Health Department for their hard work and dedication. Over the past few months, the number of Clinics on Wheels has increased from 245 to a larger fleet, capable of reaching neighborhoods and streets more effectively.

These fully air-conditioned mobile clinics are designed to function as mini-operating theatres, and over the past year, they have treated 10 million people, with more than 45,000 patients benefitting daily. She also noted the improvements in treatment facilities at Mayo Hospital, which now provides excellent care.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif pointed to the significant work done in the healthcare sector during the tenures of Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif. She acknowledged, however, that the public had suffered during the past four years, with basic healthcare often being out of reach.

She emphasized her commitment to ensuring that every citizen has access to essential medical services, adding that all government hospitals will now provide free medicines, backed by a Rs. 100 billion fund.

The CM further stated that the Clinics on Wheels initiative would continue to expand, ensuring that healthcare services are accessible to all citizens, regardless of their location.
